Unprotected: Health Issues at PSU
Brown University health researcher, Margeaux Berroth conducted a two-month intensive assessment of the health needs of the students of Palawan State University, Puerto Princesa. She found that many young people are having sex against the wishes of a church, family or other affiliated community, and that many are engaging in unprotected sex. A number of women and girls are going to great lengths to have risky
abortions and are compromising their health in the process. Some students are forced to sell sexual acts in order to pay tuition or rent, and others are forcing their partners or friends to participate in risky behavior such as alcohol use.
