Isabel de Bruin Cardoso is an international consultant who specializes in child protection and safeguarding. She has advised and consulted for UN agencies, the World Bank, philanthropies, governments, civil society organisations, and faith-based groups across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. Her work includes research and facilitating the development of national and organizational policies and programmes that prevent and respond to child maltreatment. Most recently she has designed and delivered bespoke safeguarding trainings for a range of international and local organizations funding or operating in humanitarian and development settings. Isabel’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and acknowledged in research reports, operational guidance, and policy briefs.
Isabel currently serves on the Board of Advisors for a global safeguarding programme within the Jesuit congregation.
Isabel is a PhD candidate at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, where she is researching the unethical behaviour of NGOs. She has a Master in International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University.
