Roots of Health is seeking a Finance Assistant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant is responsible for helping manage the organization’s finances. This includes tracking expenses, handling cash, and ensuring accurate cash flow records. The role also involves compliance with tax regulations and maintaining organized financial documents for audits and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Fund Liquidation and Reimbursements
    – Assist program staff with liquidating cash advances and processing reimbursements for expenses incurred.
  • Expense Recording and Document Management
    – Scan and file receipts regularly.
    – Record all expenses in the organization’s accounting system to maintain accurate cash flow records.
  • Maintain Books of Accounts
    – Ensure that the organization’s financial records are always up-to-date, BIR-compliant, and ready for audits.
  • Tax Compliance
    – Handle the organization’s registration and renewal processes with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
    – Manage the timely monthly and yearly submission of withholding taxes, including the corresponding alphalist to the BIR.
  • Collaborate with Other Departments
    – Work closely with different teams to gather financial information and support various projects or initiatives that require financial input.
  • Financial Inquiries
    – Respond to questions from staff, management, and external parties regarding financial transactions or records.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
  • Experience with financial reporting and tax compliance is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of Philippine tax regulations, including withholding taxes and BIR requirements.
  • Familiarity with audit practices and maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., Netsuite, QuickBooks Online) and Google workspace applications (especially Sheets).
  • High level of integrity and honesty, especially when handling cash and confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively coordinate with different teams and external parties.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes or systems as needed.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Ugat ng Kalusugan.
