Roots of Health is seeking a Finance & Administration Director. Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Director of Finance & Administration provides strategic leadership in financial planning, compliance, and administration. This role ensures financial integrity, risk management, and long-term sustainability while aligning financial strategies with organizational goals. Key responsibilities include overseeing financial governance, investment strategies, and budget management, ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and strengthening internal controls. The DFA also contributes to grant proposal design, assesses financial performance against budgets and long-term plans, and optimizes the use of unrestricted funds.
This is a full-time position with a two-month probation period. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include PhilHealth, SSS, Pagibig, HMO coverage, 10 paid vacation days, 10 paid sick leave days, 5 days paid leave for Holy Week, and 10 days paid leave between Christmas and New Year.
Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Oversight:
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and controls to optimize financial performance.
- Lead the Finance team’s execution of financial planning, cash flow management, and budget monitoring.
- Assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s financial health.
- Review and approve financial reports, statements, and analyses prepared by the Finance Manager before submission to management, donors, and regulatory agencies.
- Present financial reports and strategic insights to executive leadership and the Board.
- Ensure sound financial governance and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
- Provide strategic oversight on the preparation of grant budgets and delegate operational execution to the Finance Manager.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Provide oversight on compliance with tax, regulatory, legal, and other financial-related requirements, including SEC filings, BIR registrations and forms, permits, and accreditations.
- Set and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Oversee audits, ensuring timely submission of required reports, and delegate audit coordination to the Finance Manager.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee and enhance administrative functions, including facilities management, procurement, and policy development.
- Provide strategic guidance on optimizing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure strong inter-departmental coordination to support administrative needs.
- Supervise risk management activities related to contracts, compliance, and operational policies.
Process Improvement
- Lead efforts to strengthen financial and administrative systems through process improvements.
- Provide strategic input to align financial management with organizational priorities.
- Drive innovation in financial reporting, risk management, and operational frameworks.
Team Development & Performance Management
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for Finance and Admin team members, ensuring clear expectations and accountability.
- Foster professional growth through targeted coaching, training sessions, and skill-building workshops to enhance team capabilities and performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field. Advanced degree or licensed CPA is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience in financial planning, governance, and risk management
- Proven ability to provide strategic oversight while ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience working in the nonprofit sector is an advantage.
- Experience in accounting for funds from international funders, including managing grant audits (preferred).
- Experience in overseeing a portfolio of investments (preferred).
