JOB OPENING: Communications Officer
Roots of Health is seeking a Communications Officer who will assist our Media Manager in boosting our online and offline media presence. The Communications Officer will help create and implement communications strategies that contribute to improving the impact of the organization’s work, increase its profile, and raise public awareness on its sexual and reproductive health advocacies.
This is a full-time position in Puerto Princesa City with a two-month probation period. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include PhilHealth, SSS, Pagibig, health insurance, 10 paid vacation days, 10 paid sick leave days, 5 paid leave for Holy Week, and 10 days paid leave between Christmas and New Year.
Responsibilities
- Create and help coordinate print and digital media content for offline and online use
- Work with staff to harness stories from our work
- Take, edit and share photographs and videos of events and org activities
- Create short reels for Tiktok, Facebook, and Instagram
- Manage photo and video archive and help maintain the team’s knowledge management system
- Help ensure compliance with UNK’s brand identity and publishing standards
- Promote Roots of Health on social media platforms in Filipino and English
- Moderate audience engagement on social media
- Run social media advertisements
- Monitor social media metrics and facilitate evaluation and learning
- Train staff and partners on how to use social media effectively
- Update and promote website content
- Assist in writing and pitching press releases and stories for local media
- Help manage partnerships with, but not limited, to community and youth volunteers, grassroots organizations, media influencers, and suppliers
- Keep up to date with current events that are relevant to Roots of Health
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Creative Thinking – the Communications Officer must be updated on media trends and create innovative in-person and digital campaigns
- Good Writing Skills in English and Filipino – must have the ability to tell a story that inspires supporters to donate or get more involved
- Photo/Video Editing Ability – Must have the ability to take photos and video content, then edit these to tell a story
- Graphic Design – Able to create promotional graphics, and visually compelling posts, memes and slideshows
- Must be adept at using basic graphic design and photo and video editing software such as Canva, Capcut. Knowing Adobe Suite is a plus.
- Ability to multitask – must be able to work on many tasks at one time while maintaining quality of deliverables within deadlines (For example, updating website content, creating and monitoring posts for various social media channels, covering on-the-ground events)
- Collaborative – must have the ability to work with colleagues and partners in developing messaging and materials to support our work
- Willing to travel to remote areas on occasion
- Detail oriented, enthusiastic, flexible and good-humored
- Must understand and be able to create content for a youth audience
Desired:
- University degree in a related field (e.g. Communication, Development Communication, Broadcast Communication, Journalism, Multimedia Arts, or other media-related course
- Experience in marketing or advertising
- Knowledgeable about reproductive health issues in the Philippines and the world, and monitor news and current affairs on a daily basis
- HTML/coding experience
