JOB OPENING: Fundraising Officer (Hybrid)
Roots of Health is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Fundraising Officer to support our fundraising and visibility efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is ideal for a strong writer and creative communicator who is eager to contribute both to big-picture fundraising strategy and day-to-day implementation. The role will balance two core functions:
- Resource Mobilization: Supporting the Executive Director and leadership team in identifying funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant proposals, developing pitches to corporations to support charity campaigns, and tracking donor pipelines.
- Organizational Communications: Contributing to our visibility and brand-building work—crafting social media content, writing impact stories, managing email newsletters, and speaking for the organization at events and or in interviews, and developing communications materials to support fundraising and advocacy.
This is a mid-level position, and we are looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative, and passionate about helping amplify the work of a mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization (Approx. 60%)
- Research and monitor new funding opportunities from foundations, bilateral donors, INGOs, corporations, and other potential partners.
- Draft high-quality concept notes, grant proposals, pitches, and supporting documents in coordination with the Executive Director and program teams.
- Edit and refine drafts produced by others to ensure clarity, alignment with donor or partner requirements, and compelling storytelling.
- Maintain a donor database to track donations, analyze trends, and personalize outreach.
- Maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and submissions.
- Support donor stewardship efforts by helping prepare progress reports, updates, and thank-you letters.
- Manage donor engagement through various strategies such as newsletters, broadcast channels or group chats, in-person activities (i.e. dinners, meet-and-greet events)
- Coordinate/ lead fundraising events/campaigns.
- Assist in refining our fundraising strategy and developing tools or templates to streamline proposal development.
Communications & Visibility (Approx. 40%)
- Collaborate with the Executive Team to develop content for social media, newsletters, and the organization’s website that showcases our impact and raises our profile with funders and the public.
- Draft profiles, case studies, and stories that highlight program outcomes and community voices.
- Lead the creation of pitch decks, organizational brochures, and donor-facing materials.
- Identify channels where we can reach new potential donors.
- Monitor trends and best practices in nonprofit communications to strengthen our outreach.
Job Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in grant writing, fundraising, communications, or nonprofit work.
- Excellent written communication skills and strong editing skills; able to adapt tone and voice for different audiences.
- Experience writing funding proposals or donor reports is highly desirable.
- Experience in corporate fundraising is a plus.
- Strong organizational and research skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools (e.g., Canva, scheduling tools) is an advantage.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Interest in gender equity, public health, and/or social justice issues is a strong plus.
