JOB OPENING: Finance Officer
Roots of Health is seeking a Finance Officer. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant recording of financial transactions and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This position plays a critical role in upholding internal controls, supporting audits, and contributing to effective budget monitoring.
This is a full-time position in Puerto Princesa City with a probation period up to six months, depending on performance. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include PhilHealth, SSS, Pagibig, health insurance, 10 paid vacation days, 10 paid sick leave days, 5 paid leave for Holy Week, and 10 days paid leave between Christmas and New Year.
Responsibilities
Financial Operations and Reporting
- Record daily financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner in the organization’s accounting system.
- Assist in monitoring budgets and preparing financial reports for internal reviews and donor/regulatory reporting.
- Maintain organized records and supporting documents to ensure audit readiness and data reliability.
- Compile data and assist in the preparation of financial reports for review by the Finance Manager and Finance Director.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure taxes and SEC filings are completed accurately and timely.
- Monitor completeness and timeliness of expense liquidations, ensuring adherence to internal control procedures.
- Conduct checks for compliance with internal policies, tax regulations, and donor requirements.
- Support audit preparation by organizing documents and coordinating with the auditors under the Finance Manager’s guidance.
Team Coordination & Process Improvement
- Coordinate with teams to gather financial documents and ensure alignment with financial procedures.
- Provide routine guidance on documentation and maintain efficient financial workflows.
- Suggest improvements to transaction recording and filing processes.
- Assist with onboarding new finance staff or training on financial policies.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping or finance operations
- Familiarity with Philippine tax laws and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in using accounting software, preferably Netsuite or Quickbooks
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, attention to detail, and communication skills
- High integrity in handling financial data
- Commitment to the mission and values of Ugat ng Kalusugan
Preferred:
- Experience working in a donor-funded or non-profit setting
- Understanding of project-based budgeting or grant compliance
